Straight Line Destruction: The PlanetShifter.com Magazine Interview with Santa Cruz, CA Alchemist Vic Desotelle
Hi Willi –
You will find below that I attempted to write to you and only got ‘chicken scratch’ to enter my fingers. To answer your questions below would take a book ... LOL! : ) You have some big questions here, and I am more of a weaver of insight through real time conversations than through linear typing Your questions are good ones, but I am frozen with a despair that all the insights I have can and will never be used without being tainted by a paradigm of thinking that is now killing us all. I have become one of the cynical and therefore will respectfully bow out of your interview. I hope you can keep the faith better than I and move forward.

Innovation: A Three Phase Transformation Process by Vic Desotelle
I often like to dabble in the abstract. There, I am taken to transitory state that help me feel closer to the Creative Source. For example: below consists of two intertwined trinity models, of which I like to play with when considering the architecture of ‘whole systems‘. These models help us to both ‘look at’ and ‘participate in’ (w)holistically oriented organizations and communities: “ structure-pattern-process” and “ principle-practice-policy.”
Note the principle of ‘three’ shows up in my work a lot, because I believe it helps us to expand our consciousness, while at the same time providing a simple framework to contain the complex nature of creativity and innovation. You will see more discussions relating to these concepts from me over time. Let me know what comes up for you when you read through it. For now, soak your mind on this draft concept and see what comes up for you …
Transformation (deep innovation) occurs through a three phase evolution:
I’ve been thinking about the potential for progressing toward a global mind: My experiences with group emergence have noted that a majority of efforts collapse before the desire is sustained and self-propelled; a progression toward the vision that initiated the group in the first place. I propose the reason for this is that there is only a one or two level strategic plan in place made up of immediate context without the anticipation of collective content; a synthesis from which the incredible happens.
What if we instead provide a guiding framework that allows group migration into deeper forms of connection with each other? Eventually this connection moves into behavioral forms of change and action. I believe this can be done using a 3-phase framework for processing together; thereby allowing a group to consciously see itself go through deep transformation. This would mean for each phase of processing together, there is a SYNTHESIS of its content – a summarizing of what has been done. This would occur as a part of all three phases; thereby generating a thread of synthesis that allows integration.
These three phases are as follows, which can be noted in the 8-gate group alignment map diagram
1- Establishing Group Intention:
This phase’s nature is chaotic. It is expressed by conversations of desire and passion which drive an unfolding *PROCESS*. A focus on creating +PRINCIPLES+ based on diverse values, which opens of new level of awareness; thereby setting the stage for a loosening of existing physical *structure* and allowing change to occur. Vibrational activity is dissonant (unconscious) and non-geometric.
2- Building a Value Network:
This phase’s nature moves from chaotic to chaordic. It is expressed by individuals linking and clustering around collective ideas – a virtual *STRUCTURE* emerges. A focus on creating +PRACTICES+ sets the stage for individual changes in behavior and an early forming of group identity to occur. Vibrational activity is recognizable (awakening consciousness) but not stable.
3- Experiencing a Community of Practice:
This phase’s nature moves from chaordic into order. It is expressed by the emergence of community (collective) identity PATTERNS to be realized and an acceptance of participatory-oriented activities are in place. A focus on creating +POLICY+ is empasized; thereby a change of governance occurs.

Interview with Vic Desotelle by Willi Paul
What are some of your favorite children’s stories? Are they still relevant to you?
Children’s stories of my time are all still being used and most have flaws that are setting the stage for a continued blind leading the blind next generation.
How can we produce new mythologies? What are the ingredients?
We have to awaken to the one’s we are in; that’s first step. Then a period of fear will attempt to claim its awakening victims. Like the movie the matrix. Dispelling belief systems is a bit like an exorcism – one that virtually no one that I’ve met is willing to go through.
What is your Creative Source? Can I experience it?
Call it what you will – it’s that undying desire or need to avoid paid work in order try and sketch out what my ‘ah ha’ feelings are and form them into thoughts. Most of which gets annihilated in the transition by others trying to keep status quo alive (without even knowing they are doing it).
What do humans need to learn to evolve to a higher consciousness?
That 99% of what they think is change is not actually change. That what we think is creating change is but in fact that which keeps us from actual change.
Tell us more about the number 3 and the triangle symbol and how these weave into your writing?
Three creates an energetic vibration that breaks dipole oscillations. When 3 comes into play, things break down and needed forms of creativity can come in. It’s what needed in US politics because repubs and democrats have become two sides of the same coin. A third party in the mix would move things toward a change potential (note this is not change itself though). And of course the powers that be (because our myth gives them that power) will not allow three to play out because their kingdom would begin to break down. Thus 3 is an energy geometry that is sorely needed in our time.
Are you using and/or refining alchemy?
Yes. Old alchemy is a baseline for morphing into a new ‘chemistry’. Alchemy itself is not the chemicals but is the dynamic changing of those chemical that can be seen when one snapshots its transformation over time. Thus, it is a way to ground new myth which resides more in the ‘ideal’ spirit realm, and move it toward more ‘real’ application; before science makes it truly ‘matter’ into form.
How do you define sustainability? Localization?
These are two different things and people horribly misrepresent both by shoving them into a box that no longer serves. Local no longer means ‘the guy next door’, and sustainability does not mean ‘save the environment’. This is a huge question you ask; more than I have the energy to write about. Here is my wellspring of thoughts on the matter. You can use any of it, and the links on that pageas well, that you like:
When you think about integration, what are the key tools for human organizing?
Circles and curves. Squares and straight lines are destroying us. This means a movement from the masculine to the feminine (which does not mean male/female). In a real application, this would me removing all presentation pedestals and creating learning exchange market places with circles that self organize into clusters based on intention, not strategy (which comes much later in process).
A Community of Practice is often full of bureaucratic and/or political inefficiencies. How do you suggest that these groups retain their intentions and values in our wired and global scene?
Your question is one that a bureaucrat would ask and is loaded with pre-diagnosed version of an answer that you think you already know. Questions themselves are the alchemical vessel where change ferments. But for this to happen, the questions have to be formulated as conscious sincere forms of inquiry into another’s world view; rather than unconscious manipulations that force a pre-destined direction, which is how we ask questions in 99.99999% of all situations around the world.
