Douglas Trumbull has built and photographed a video of a scale model experiment depicting a possible solution to the Deepwater Horizon oil leak, which continues to spew millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

Trumbull has been studying all available information regarding the wellhead, blowout preventer, broken riser pipe, and other factors such as flow rate and pressure.

Here’s a graphic illustration for how the quick is often the enemy of the sustainable. Kauai’s Hindu temple got a foundation built to last 1,000 years…it just took longer to dry (via Hinduism today).

Sure, builders love ‘modern’ reinforced concrete which reaches full strength in two days, whereas the ancient fly ash concrete takes three months. Yet, the quick-curing concrete only lasts for decades, while the other lasts for millennia.

    • Biodegradable – breakdown by microbes / bacteria
    • Compostable – these plastics can be placed in compost conditions to breakdown without interfering with the production of usable compost.

    Art For the Sky is about bringing 100's of people together in the creation of giant images of Earth's creatures that only make sense from the Sky. The endangered loggerhead sea turtle above was made with 800 students and teachers, Florida white sand, Georgia red clay, bark mulch and topsoil.

    Participants learn the Six Teachings of Art For the Sky: Collaboration, Intention, Interconnection, Gratitude, Impermanence and Skysight . . . learning to see the world through the eyes of all beings and future generations.
