"As stated in our conversation, this consideration will hinge on whether or not there is already sufficient signage or other indications warning drivers that pedestrians are present; or, if the current street conditions are such that drivers have no idea or obvious indications that people may cross at this intersection." email from Augustine Chou - City of Burlingame, 9/23/10

Hi Patch -

After nearly getting run over by three reckless & belligerent automobile drivers at El Camino @ Bellevue Av and Burlingame Park Av @ Burlingame Av in the past 24 hours, it is time that Police Chief Wood, City Manager Nantell beef up the cross walk signage at these and many other corners in Burlingame before the inevitable manslaughters occur.

Call for Action:

- Place a cop on site at the Park Av @ Burlingame Av horror show during peak pedestrian use

- Install better signage for drivers and pedestrians

- If the City can find the wherewithal to make money off of property owners for cracks in their sidewalks in an economic crisis (i.e. - 50/50 Sidewalk Program), then why can't City Hall devise and pay for a better crosswalk safety plan and implementation?

Considering the magnitude of this pedestrian safety negligence, the thought of an major earthquake pails. This is the day to day driver - pedestrian battleground at Peet's/Apple/GAP:

• Encroachment by cars in the crosswalks when pedestrians are still crossing

• Parking in the red zone by the fire hydrant next to Peet's Coffee

• Drivers who double-up at the same intersection when the street is only two lanes (next to Peet's Coffee)

• Drivers who do not signal intent to turn

• Cars driving at with unsafe speeds (over 25 mph)

• Parking in the handicap space outside Apple Store without legal right to do so

City: Make us safe now or we get it done with a law suit.
