The A-Frame Messenger is an evolving community building tool and potential new tradition for the annual permaculture convergence. It is based in part from the recent discussion at the MythShare Workshop at the 2017 NWCPP.

Its foundation is the simple wooden A-Frame tool that permaculturists and others use to determine land contours. As such, the tool already has a history of helping growers determine the lay of the land and the possible flow of water across it. In contrast however, the A-Frame Messenger is empowered to serve as a community portal to gather and disseminate the emotional and logistical contours and stories from the participants at the convergence. It is a living sculpture that is "planted" or secured into the ground with an added third brace and looks like an artist's easel.

Bows from local trees can garnish the frame to celebrate Nature along with flower lays and woven fabrics and chains and necklaces. The A-Frame Messenger can function in a variety of ways - both passive and active. With cell service often poor at the convergence, participants can leave hand-written notes for each other here, along with gifts. The site can also be utilized for formal gatherings like ceremonies, live readings, classes and planning sessions. As a geo-social compass or "Mythologizer", the A-Frame Messenger can be a site to discuss dreams and assist in the construction of new symbols, rituals and universal myths for permaculture, transition and beyond.
